Not yet 100% but aiming for it!
I am almost able to walk without limping.... 10 days post fall. So today Dad and I took our usual ride... It was a bad start though! Dad filled our bike tires with more air and was watering his chickens and flowers so we got a royally late start (after 8:35am) then a mile in he realized he forgot his on-call cell phone so we turned back to get it. Then we took our normal ride to North Bedford Baptist church and back for a lovely 23.6 miles.... plus the extra two miles of going back and starting over for a total of 25.6 miles! My ankle did NOT enjoy the uphills, but all in all I can see our progressive improvements because even starting late, a few 2 minute ankle breaks, and having to turn back to get the phone we still finished up at the same time just before 11:30 so i can be at work by 12!

OH NO!! the Ankle Blues
So the lovely and talented ME fell about 5 feet hitting a medal shelf with my ankle AND landing on my ankle at work Thursday night 8-6. I was in quite a nice chunk of pain, pathetically limping, lots of whining, a little picture taking- You know me:-)
So Friday night I was still miserable knowing our serious biking day is Saturday and I've already been lazy two weeks with less riding then usual! So AGAINST both my parents and husbands orders I insisted on riding! To "compromise" we only did the bike trail--- mostly flat, not too bumpy you know a lil precautionary thinking since you know I always have work at 12 on Saturdays! I rode the 2.2 miles to dad's house, 1 mile to the trail, the entire trail about 15 miles... but it was only 10am! That is WAY too early to call it a day so we did 1/2 the train again- 8 more miles. then the 1 mile back to dads and the 2 back home for a grand total of 29ish miles on what was def feeling like a broken ankle... yes I DO exaggerte. And even with ankle issues I still did two timed miles. The first time I just let myself know I was racing the clock and did a mile in 5minutes and 15 seconds. The second time I told dad we were racing and we completed our mile in 4 minutes and 38 seconds!! GO US! I got to work at 12:04 and was feeling rather miserable, but not to disappoint my sponsers... in sickness and in health I will ride on! I am still in need of a little more in donations to help me, my dad, and our team reach our fund raising goal! PLEASE consider donating!
Like my pretty lil ankle:-(

nice cut, nice swelling, bruising has begun

Can you see the difference in my beat up foot and normal foot?

Lazily Simple!

Karlee, Zac, Jayna (on the rail), Davey, Tricia, Amanda, Beth, and Anthony

Cousins (and Grand Kids) All the original 4 grand kids, both the great grandkids, and one of the three "new" grandkids... this is a rarity, treasure it! Someday I'll get ALL of us in one pic.... but by then there may be more Great Grands!
Lazily Simple
Dad was on "sick leave" this week (25) as he had a little surg. I was too lazy I guess as my riding was limited. I enjoy biking, but HONESTLY if I wasn't doing my best to raise funds for the MS society there's no way I'd be working my work schedule, dealing with family life and still spending 8 hours or so a week biking! MAYBE 2 hours a week... and then if I missed a week oh well. But This is taking more commitment every week than my lazy unmotivated booty can handle.
Then August 1st and 2nd I took a mini vacation to see my Grandparents in WV. I hadn't been there since Thanksgiving, so it was long overdue. Uncle King whom I am riding with (my newly recruited team member) and I rode on a 5 mile strip with him. Super easy, at this point in my biking life almost TOO EASY! But some biking is better than no biking. And I was thinking... I may be riding the MS 150 in a few more weeks but my golly I have ridden 25 miles exery week since June pretty much now which means 100 miles a month, which means by the time I every make it to the MS150 I will have already ridden 300 plus miles EASILY!
On the good side, I got another donation: $100 from Nana and Poppy!!
Notes from our mini vacation:
I closed my store Friday night (that means getting off work at 3am! I was at Karlee's house at 6am to pick her up. I bet I ate a million extra calories to stay awake! We got to Zac's about 9am. He has a very nice newly remodeled old house:-) It was complete with a Steeler's room, 3 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, and office, and living room and dining room. We went to a local icecream shop called Berkshire's and had the MOST absolutely delicious hot apple dumplings with icecream and Cinnamon. Then we went to Nana's and Poppy's. We played around for a while vistied for a while and I fell asleep for a while (ops!) After dinner is when Uncle King and I went biking. Sunday we did the church thing, visiting the cousins new addition, food thing, lots of talking, waited for Uncle Greg, Aunt Kim and Davey to get there, supper, and had to leave. It was a nice min vacay with some DEEEElicious Nana home cookin'

The Riding MUST go on 7/18/09
No new donations, yet we ride on
Today we did 1/2 our normal route then edited the end- which sucked- for what mileage wise felt shorter but strength wise sucked a lot! WAAAAY too much uphill for this casual rider.... not to self do not ride to the top of mount everest-- or snowshoe mountain;-)
I rode the 2.2 miles to dad's house after dropping the kids off w/ mom and returning home to start my ride.
Took our usual:
Turn right at Lancaster St; Turn left at Fort Ave/US-; Turn right at Oakley; turn left at Lakeside; Turn right at Forest Brook rd; Turn left at Old Forest; turn right at Wiggington Rd;passed our old home 1319 wiggington- the dogs weren't outside today... I forgot my water bottle so no point in water break rests! Got to the end of Wigginton and instead of heading for Coffee Road we took Hawkins Mill Rd... Followed it until it became Cottontown Road... followed it until we ended up in Forest right by my work... weird how these roads twist and turn and take you where you don't expect to end up. Dad has a fear of riding near cars so that ended our biking excursion! We turned around and headed home... then I had to go to work 12-4:30... Was SOOOOO glad to get home around 5pm;-)
For me it was 2.2 to dad's, 12.7 to our cottontown/forest rd, 13.6 back home making it 28.5 miles, just a tad further than our two previous weeks but a lot more challenging!
Not sure what next week hold for us as dad has surg on Friday so I will ride solo on Saturday....
