Meet Ike

It was a great Friday. Breakfast with one friend- Joyce and Lexi, a good day at work and then supper with the BEST friends- Brandy and Robbie. After enjoying our supper at Harbor Inn, we all were chatting in the parking lot... and then Robbie spotted Ike.... and Brandy darted across the parking lot to capture him :-D
She held him so the kids in the van didn't see and that was a fun shreek from them!! And to my utter disbelief-- their dad is letting them keep the toad as our family pet :-0 In the car to buy Toad supplies I told them he needed a name. Anthony immediately suggested Ike. We thought of other names as well but the first name suggestion was the best. However Jayna needed to pick a name for him too... It rotated from George, Skip, Montana (like Hannah), Jackson, even Rainbow. She would try each name out Ike Rainbow Sykes, Ike George Sykes... although Anthony was pretty sure it sounded better Ike Sykes Rainbow or Ike Sykes George. So I explained to him Sykes had to be last like Anthony Robert Sykes or Jayna Olivia Sykes. So he wanted to hear our names. They laughed at "Leigh, Bethany Leigh?!?" hahahha But when I told them "Marko Lorenzo". Anthony excitedly said "That's Almost like Rango!!". So Yes Jayna decided to name Ike after Daddy-kinda... And so Ike Rango Sykes joined our family on March 18th, 2011... and although our son used his money to buy him a cage, Marko decided we will pay for a cage because apparently as kids Marko had several pet frogs/toads and his mom never would get them a cage and they died so Marko decided we would pay for it because he never had the oppurtunity!

A vistit with Uncle Zac and Aunt Rebekah

It's not too often we get to see Uncle Zac and Aunt Rebekah but this past weekend we squeezed in a meet up about half way between us--- in Christiansburg, VA. If my gps hadn't been stolen this winter we would have arrived 30 minutes earlies... sometimes sprint navigation on the phone-- just sucks!
We met up at the Olive Garden and enjoyed a delicious lunch together-- well except the boy who apparently decided to get car sick AFTER the card ride... he has a horrible habbit of getting sick at restaurants with Uncle Zac. We've only seen Uncle Zac in October, at Nana's at Thansgiving, post Christmas hellos and this time. 2 of those were at families house and the first and last we went out top eat and the boy ends up sick--- not sure how he manages to get a sick attack at a restaurant but behave and feel totally fine and normal before and after!?!
Anyhow we have a yummy lunch. Jayna displayed her lemon eating skills and showed a rather impressed Aunt Rebekah how much she LOVES lemons-- such a weird child. She stole more of Aunt R and Uncle Z's desserts than they got, but at least she was quite cute in the process ;-)
After that we went to the mall and the kids showed Aunt R the "Hurricane". Which messed up Jayna and her hair quite nicely!

Then we went to Kmart where each kid picked a bday gift. Jayna picked rainboots--- which is SOO Jayna to pick a clothing article or accessory over a toy. Anthony picked Walkie Talkiees--- which have kept them nicely entgtertained so far this weekend!

The visit was rather short and sweet as Uncle Zac had had a minor surgical procedure two days earlier and wasn't back to 100% on the pain level and energy level, but just teh same we were glad to see them! Afterall now Uncle Z will be gone until May 4th on Army training stuff and Aunt R will spend it visiting family and then going back home to Maine until Z gets back from his army stuff... we are so anxiously awaiting wedding bells and are hoping they will occur very soon after the May 4th return :-D
